ABSTRACT

When I first saw the two paintings by Anthony Green, My Mother Alone in Her Dining Room and The Bathroom at 29, they immediately made an impression on me. They seemed alive and full of fun, with so much colourful detail. It struck me straight away that because the children I teach would be able to relate to each picture (as they contained so many common objects, clearly depicted and easily recognisable), I could link my teaching and research to a study of Anthony Green’s work, and explore the children’s capacity to observe and record pictorially and in accurate detail aspects of daily life and their surroundings.
