MYRADA is an NGO which has been involved in rural development since 1968 but now works in approximately 2,000 villages in South India, in the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. It initially started as an organization which resettled refugees from Tibet. Its mission statement of 1985 is:
