ABSTRACT
This study was undertaken in 1991 through a combination of (largely unpublished) literature reviews and semi-structured interviews with twenty-four NGOs, whose head offices are located in or near Kathmandu. 12 Inadequate prior documentation of NGOs’ activities prevented rigorous sampling, and so those interviewed are best regarded as ‘key informants’.
