ABSTRACT

The Mindanao Baptist Rural Life Centre (MBRLC), founded in 1971, is located on the island of Mindanao among the rolling foothills of Mount Apo, the highest mountain in the Philippines. The NGO’s target group is the poor upland farmer, whose income averages around $300 per year and farms 2–3 acres. Influenced by Schumacher, the MBRLC considers that farm people themselves are the most valuable resources in development.
