NGO–Government Collaboration in Rice-Fish Culture in North-East Thailand

While rice-fish culture was once a common practice in central Thailand, there was a decline in the 1970s with the introduction of the more profitable Green Revolution agricultural technologies. Many farmers found that returns were modest and uncertain, fish were readily available from other sources and heavy fertilizer and pesticide use conflicted with the culture of fish in rice fields.
