ABSTRACT
Taking forward the arguments outlined above concerning the importance of context, Chapter 2 examines the diversity of political and economic contexts in the case-study countries, examining their political and economic conditions, NGOs’ relations with the state, and differing perceptions on the nature of NGOs. It concludes by examining the comparative advantage of NGOs and government in ATD, drawing out the principal lessons from the Green Revolution.
