ABSTRACT
Commander of the 3rd British Brigade (part of Clinton’s 2nd British Infantry Division), consisting of the 1/52nd, 71st and 2/95th Regiments: some 2,900 light infantrymen in total. A strict disciplinarian, Adam was a veteran of campaigns in Egypt, Sicily and Spain, having entered the army as an ensign in 1795.
