ABSTRACT

Many of the techniques described in this volume are ‘solution’ methods of analysis, including atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS, Chapter 5), inductively coupled plasma–atomic emission spectrometry (ICP–AES, Chapter 4) and ICP–mass spectrometry (ICP–MS, Chapter 10). These analytical techniques normally require the sample to be introduced as a stable solution and the analysis obtained can only be as reliable as the dissolution of the sample.
