ABSTRACT
Most reports on local or regional economies are studded with employment statistics. This is true whether one takes the example of county council plans, district council analyses or consultants’ reports on local economic development. Tables and graphs of the area’s structure of employment, the way it has been changing, and outline forecasts of future change, are very much the order of tie day.
