ABSTRACT

Date unknown; but by propinquity with other fragments in Nbk 10, and metre (which could even suggest connection or continuity with fragments in the preceding nbk pages; see preceding fragments), possibly March-April 1819 in Rome. The lines are skipped by S/s draft for the ‘Song of Spirits’ for PU II iii 54–98. Mary’s transcript is in adds. d. 7 f. 77. At the top of the same page in Nbk 10 is a presumably unconnected line ‘And from a wilderness of human Crimes [or possibly ‘Graves’]’.
