Written in Nbk 10; skipped by S.’s draft for the ‘Song of Spirits’ for PU II iii and therefore presumably earlier than April 1819. The blank verse lines perhaps suggest S.’s view of Byron in his Venetian decadence (cp. no. 185, ‘O mighty mind, in whose deep stream this age’).
