ABSTRACT
Any couple with a newborn infant knows that children have an impact on the marital relationship, and most children whose parents have divorced can attest to the effect of the marital relationship on the child. Moreover, the idea that the two domains influence one another is predicted by most theories of human development. Nonetheless, there has been surprisingly little scientific inquiry into the relation between marital and child prolems.
