ABSTRACT

This chapter draws on our shared experience of working collaboratively across four countries and summarises what we learnt about using peer research with children and young people in care. It brings together the experience of academics, NGOs and, more importantly, young people who have been involved in developing peer research in five European countries. A total of 385 young people with care experience, including 50 peer researchers and 335 respondents, were supported and empowered to contribute experience, opinions and competencies towards creating a “different world” where care leavers are better prepared for independence and successfully integrated in their communities.
