ABSTRACT

Medicine is a professional area in which the use of video cameras is playing an increasingly crucial role within a diversity of practices, like visual examinations, video-assisted operations, collaborative surgical operations at a distance (telemedicine), and training. One of the most significant of these is endoscopy, which is a technique that allows the exploration and operation of the anatomy of the patient in a minimally invasive way. A camera is inserted into the body by means of trocars, and it is then manipulated inside the body by means of various instruments inserted in the trocars. By using videoscopic techniques, medical expects enhance their scopic access to the body in its anatomical details.
