ABSTRACT

Economic development in Babylon during the Seleucid (305–141 BC)and Parthian (141 BC–AD 226) 2 periods has been a topic of research for quite some time. Studies so far have focused on salinization, monetary shocks, wars and other factors, 3 but few have looked at a factor that has recently emerged in the literature as an important factor in the development of early economies: climate.
