ABSTRACT

One of the reasons why physicians see pharmaceutical sales representatives is to obtain technical information about prescription drugs. In 1966 several individuals, including some physicians, founded the nonprofit educational organization now known as the Certified Medical Representative (CMR) Institute, Inc. It is the only independent organization that provides advanced education to people in pharmaceutical sales. According to the organization, the CMR program was established as a resource available to the health-care field, providing a professionally recognized basic educational standard to all medical representatives. The effective service is giving technical information about the hospital use of prescription drugs, and one of the easiest ways to provide this information to many of the staff physicians, nurses, and pharmacists is to set up an exhibit. Physicians and pharmacists to tour their manufacturing and research facilities. Publicity about a company, its contributions as a good citizen in the community, promotion of news regarding its pharmaceutical representatives.
