ABSTRACT

The manual functions as a learning tool and continual reference for users The manual will be much easier to construct if an organizational system is implemented early on in the test development process. The manual will need to be “user friendly,” easy to read and understand by the audience targeted. Content areas or “chapters” frequently found in test manuals are elaborated below as guidelines for structuring important information that users will need to evaluate and administer the test. The preparation of the examiner’s manual is a component of test development and as such, requires the same attention to planning and detail as all other phases of the process. The years of hard work that are involved in the development of a norm-referenced standardized test merit a clearly written, well-organized and comprehensive examiner’s manual to reflect the quality of the test.
