ABSTRACT

August 26, 1996 marked the 25th anniversary of WorldCat (the OCLC Online Union Catalog). As part of a year-long tribute to this remarkable resource, OCLC and the U.S. regional networks sponsored an essay contest in which librarians and library users were invited to write essays of 500 words or less on the topic, “What the OCLC Online Union Catalog Means to M e.” A grand prize of $1,000 and four prizes of $500 each were offered.
