ABSTRACT

Resource poor regions, medically underserved by most measures, face particularly difficult challenges with regard to maintaining an adequate pool of HIV-competent physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners. This paper describes a project designed to expand HIV care capacity in a resource poor community along the United States-Texas-Mexico border, utilizing existing community health centers. The authors describe their experiences in implementing and evalu74ating an AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) physician training program. doi:10.1300/J187v05n02_07 [Article copies available for a fee from The Haworth Document Delivery Service: 1-800-HAWORTH.
