ABSTRACT
SUMMARY. CrossRef s mission is to improve access to published scholarship through services that require consensus and collective initiative among publishers. The CrossRef citation-linking network today covers millions of articles and other content items from several hundred scholarly and professional publishers. This article looks briefly at CrossRef s attempt to develop a cross-publisher full-text search service and how7 this initiative relates to the launch of the Google Scholar service currently in beta format.
