ABSTRACT
As is the case with the fashion industry, the home furnishings industry is often driven by trends. A recent trend that has been quite visible in home furnishing stores, magazines, books, and advertising is Asian-influenced interior decorating. Interiors filled with richly colored silks, ceramics, wood, rattan, bamboo and wicker have become very trendy in homes across America, Western Europe, and other non-Asian countries. The Asian influence on home furnishings usually leads to simplified lines and natural, muted tones with bursts of color in furniture, textiles, and tableware.
