ABSTRACT
California State University, Sacramento, merged the Science Library into the central Reference Department over a period of two years from 1998-2000. Because of the new arrangement, there has been an increase in reference hours, new reference services, more reference materials (both online and in print), and additional equipment to access the materials. Librarians have also benefited through more collection development opportunities, increased collegial interaction, and a more stimulating environment for their own professional growth.
