ABSTRACT

"Art is . . . Healing" is the message that Kevin O'Callaghan sends on a poster (Photo 1) he created that appeared in subway stations throughout New York City post 9/11 as part of the School of Visual Arts' subway designs, an initiative to bring artwork to subways. The window horticulture has been trimmed in the shape of the Towers and is positioned against a view of the city where the Twin Towers used to stand. Green symbolizing growth, prosperity, new life, and regeneration. Clipping shears left on the window ledge emphasize the importance of doing, re-creating and purposeful action. The view from this window is positive. Art heals.
