ABSTRACT

Health, defined as “a state of total physical, mental and social well-being, a state without the presence of illness” (Strieženec, 1996, p. 248) integrates not only medical aspects of the health of humans, but also the psychological aspects. Implicitly, the concept of health also includes the area of sexuality. Sexual health means “the whole of the physical, emotional, mental and social features of individuals as sexual beings, which enrich the personality, improve his or her relationships and develop the ability to love” (Lencz and Ivanová, 1995, p. 20). For the operationalization of the concept of sexual health, we consider it useful to distinguish between its two domains. The first domain of sexual health emphasizes HIV/AIDS infection, sexually transmitted infections, and unplanned pregnancy.
