ABSTRACT

Librarians and their patrons can better know just what is available through their databases, and make the most of the resources for which they are paying so handsomely. E-journal management solutions improve these data by developing relationships with all of the aggregators and publishers, which in turn improve the access we and others have to their data, as well as the accuracy of those data. Today, these databases offer hundreds or occasionally thousands of journals in a single database, and they provide a particular value in accessing specific journals and articles, particularly for off-campus users, or in situations when a patron cannot or go to another library–or microfilm or the stacks, for that matter–to get the article they need. Linking is an important area, as these URLs with UlrichsWeb take patrons directly to specific journal information within a database, instead of confusing the patron with another search.
