ABSTRACT

This workshop offered a chance to discuss a subject not often addressed in the library community–incidents of censorship by library employees. Personal experiences of incidents were discussed and shared by the presenter, Stephanie Schmitt of Yale Law Library, and by the audience. Ms. Schmitt recommended methods to avoid problems that result from staff objections to library material’s content. She suggested ways to develop policies that support intellectual freedom and also serve to educate staff and administration as well.
