ABSTRACT
When the Board of The Scottish Australian Company decided three years ago to make available the records of the company for research, it soon became apparent that the Scottish investors and entrepreneurs of the 1840's had made a distinctive and valuable contribution to the economic and commercial growth of Australi in that formative decade.
