Introduction

In the formation of the multi-disciplinary field that investigates the participation of disabled persons in all forms of physical activity, little ethical and philosophical work has been published. This essay serves to contextualise arange of issues emanating from adapted physical activity (APA) and disability sports. First, we offer some general historical and philosophical remarks about the field which serve to situate those issues at the crossroads between the philosophy of disability and the philosophy of sports. Secondly, we bring brief but critical attention to the contestation of key concepts such as "ability" and "normality" and the recent criticisms of polarisation of the medical and social models of disability. Finally, we show how these conceptual issues are implicated in the whole spectrum of contexts of APA and disability sports from the ethics of research with and for the disabled, to coaching, rehabilitation and teaching, and sports administration, that are predicated on key ethical concepts including empathy, entitlement and equity.

En la formación del campo multidisciplinario que investiga la participación de personas discapacitadas en todas las variedades de actividad física se han publicado pocas obras éicas y filosóficas. Este ensayo sirve para contextualizar una panoplia de temas que surgen de la actividad física adaptada (AFA) [adapted physical activity (APA)] y los deportes de discapacitados. En primer lugar ofrecemos algunas observaciones generales históricas y filosóficas sobre este campo que sirven para situar estos asuntos en la encrucijada entre la filosofía de la discapacidad y la filosofía del deporte. En segundo lugar prestamos breve pero crútica atención a la disputa sobre conceptos tales como los de "habilidad" y "normalidad" y las críticas recientes de la polarización de los modelos de minusvalía médicos y sociales. Por último mostramos como estos temas conceptuales están involucrados en todo el espectro de contextos de AFA y deportes de discapacitados desde la ética de investigación con y para discapacitados al entrenamiento, la rehabilitación y la enseñanza, y la administración deportiva, los cuales se basan en conceptos éticos clave que incluyen la empatía, el merecimiento, y la equidad.

Seid der Entstehung jenes mulidisziplinären Feldes, das sich der Erforschung sportlicher Aktivitäten von Behinderten widmet, sind bisher nur wenige ethische und philosophische Arbeiten publiziert 2 worden. Dieser Essay dient der Kontextualisierung einer Reihe von Fragen und Problemen die im Feld Bewegung, Spiel und Sport in Prävention, Rehabilitation und Behinderung (APA = adapted physical activity) zum Vorschein kommen. Zunächst präsentieren wir einige allgemeine historische und philosophische Anmerkungen zu diesem Themengebiet, um die Kernprobleme an den Schnittstellen zwischen Philosophie und Behinderung, sowie der Philosophie des Sports besser verorten zu können. Des Weiteren beleuchten wir kurz die Streitigkeiten um Kernbegriffe wie „Fähigkeit“ und „Normalität“, sowie die neuerliche Kritik an der Polarisierung in medizinisches und gesellschaftliches Verständnis von Behinderung. Schließlich zeigen wir wie diese terminologischen Schwierigkeiten mit einer Reihe von Rahmenbedingungen von Bewegung, Spiel und Sport in Prävention, Rehabilitation und Behinderung (APA) verwoben sind. Es zeigen sich hier Verflechtungen zum einen mit der Ethik des Forschens (mit und für Behinderte), zum anderen in Bezug auf Coaching, Rehabilitation und Unterreichten, aber auch im Hinblick auf Sportadministrationen. Denn sie alle basieren auf ethischen Schlu¨sselbegriffen wie Empathie, Anspruchsberechtigung und Gleichheit.
