ABSTRACT
In this Reading, * Fox elaborates and defends the ideas of Arne Naess, and in particular the idea of wide identification. The term ‘transpersonal’ implies the ideal of transcending one’s personal (individual) identity. The Reading develops the idea of cosmologically based identification, at the expense of personally based identification, since only the former can support impartial concern for all natural things.
