ABSTRACT

This chapter hopes to reveal to the interested reader that cash flow accounting (CFA) and net realisable value accounting (NRVA) are parts of a single system of reporting which concentrates on the importance and accessibility of cash in business enterprise activity. In particular, they are presented as a means of extending CFA and NRVA to the point at which it can be said that the reported data are complete so far as liquidity management assessment at least is concerned. As such, it provides a total reporting of the actual and potential cash resources and obligations of the reporting enterprise. The chapter presents outline financial statements which require to be expanded and presented in such a way as to be comprehensible and meaningful to its readers. The combined system contains all the data normally required in each of these systems, but in such a way as to highlight the crucial feature of both: cash and its accessibility.
