ABSTRACT
We know our materials are being used. We find books abandoned on tables, at the end of stacks, piled and rejected in carrels and study rooms. These items have been pulled from the shelves, thumbed through, skimmed or read, and left behind. We collect, organize, and re-shelve them. At a certain point we had to ask: why not count this anonymous use of our collection?
