ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an overview of the challenges immigrant children and families may face once they become involved with the child welfare system. The chapter then provides a theoretical framework for child welfare practice with immigrant children and families, building on concepts from empowerment theory, the strengths perspective, the ecological model, and culturally competent practice approaches.
