ABSTRACT
As participants in the recovery process in New Orleans, we have wrestled with the above question in our applied planning and design research over the past four years. As the Editors of this special issue, our goal is to encourage scholarly reflection about our professional, pedagogical, political, and personal responses to the disaster and what lessons we can glean from this experience for urban design.
