ABSTRACT

Objectivity is often used as way to put down those who have the view outside of a very narrow elite consensus in Washington DC, which, by the way, the author does not think is the consensus of most people in this country. In a bipartisan healthcare summit President Obama kept emphasizing bipartisanship as if bipartisanship represents the great diversity of opinions on healthcare. But they barred anyone who represented single-payer [options], when most people who are polled, they support this idea of Medicare for all. When it comes to Obama having his healthcare forum, ‘bipartisan’ does not, by any means, suggest expressing all views. Often the same point of view is represented and that same view is echoed in the corporate media and the shows we see everyday. When journalists are threatened, and beaten, and detained, arrested, then the journalists are afraid to cover dissenting points of view. Journalists don’t want that to happen to them.
