ABSTRACT
Sonali Kolhatkar hosts and produces a popular morning drive-time program, Uprising, with the same radio station as Norma Martinez, KPFK Pacifica. She is also the Co-Director of the Afghan Women’s Mission. This US-based, non-profit solidarity organization channels funds to Revolutionary Association of the Women in Afghanistan. Most community radio stations will have their feminist collective doing the one feminist show that sort of ghettoizes talking about everything through a feminist lens, by and for women, but not by women and for everybody, not by women and about everything. Decision makers need to play a bigger role in opening up the spaces to women that concern hard news, politics and all the other issues that women are intimately involved in.
