ABSTRACT

What a gift my Jewish sisters have given in sharing these stories! And what an honor it is to add my voice to this conversation about identity. I believe that it is through our stories that we come to name ourselves and the truths about our lives. It is through our stories that we find the threads of connection among us in the commonalities of our joy, our pain, our struggle, and, ultimately, our triumph. In this spirit of sharing, I offer a brief story of my own. It is a story about how a lifetime of Jewish presence has helped to shape me, a non-Jew, into the person I am today.

The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their right names.
