ABSTRACT

This article investigates the question of transitional justice and politics of the past of the post-Franco democratic regime in Spain and particularly the reappearance of questions related to the authoritarian past in recent years. Particular emphasis will be given to the complex relationship between the media, the political sphere and social demands when it comes to explaining the recent eruption of memory. It identifies the changes in the positions of the main political parties with respect to their attitudes towards the authoritarian past and investigates the reasons behind these changes.
