ABSTRACT

While organized labor formally represents only a portion of the work force,in both America and abroad workers represented by unions uni-versally do better than those who are not, providing a strong incentive for the expansion of union membership in the future. Labor and the human service professions share ideology and incentives for working ever more closely together toward this end. Both the labor move-ment and the social work profession can reap practical benefits from strengthening their relationship, and expanding their collaboration.
