ABSTRACT

Alcohol abuse has always been a significant problem in the homeless population; in particular when it consisted of a large, older male, skid row population (for example, see Bahr, 1969a; 1969b). However, with the declining age of this population (Jones, Goldstein & Gray, 1984; Lamb, 1982; Seigal & Inciardi, 1982; Stark, 1985), other drug abuse seems to be occurring increasingly (Mulkern & Spence, 1984).
