ABSTRACT
The publication of this special issue is the first of a new regular feature for Europe-Asia Studies and we hope to bring out one special issue in each volume in future years. The current issue commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of the momentous events of 1956, a landmark year in the history of the communist regimes of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.
