ABSTRACT
Since the beginning of the 1990s, Brazilian studies in the field of cultural geography have undergone a process of expansion which has witnessed a change from being almost totally unknown to a level of significant, albeit limited, acceptance and practice. Thus, in 2003, the Brazilian community of cultural geographers has a periodical, as well as publishing a series of books. This text seeks to describe the paths taken by cultural geography in Brazil.
