ABSTRACT
Singapore is a city-state with an area of about 700 km2, a population of approximately 4.4 million people, and an annual growth of 1.9%. Total fertility rates have declined from 1.7 in 1996 to 1.4 in 2001. The population growth of Singapore between 1980 and 2005 is shown in Figure 1.
