ABSTRACT

SUMMARY. Collection development of electronic resources presents added dimensions to the traditional library collection development model for printed materials. The basic functions of collection development in the digital library remain the same as for the traditional STM library. Applying these functions to electronic resources at this time requires increased collaboration and a broadening of the skills and experience of collection development personnel. A primary objective of collection development is to give structure to a collection of resources by organizing them in a meaningful manner. New approaches are being used to define what the collection is. [Article copies available for a fee from The Haworth Document Delivery Service: 1-800-342-9678.
