ABSTRACT

SUMMARY. Across the Internet, the number and diversity of applications using Extensible Markup Language (XML) are growing rapidly. This growth requires that information service providers take a close look at how the power of XML might be leveraged. Along with Resource Description Framework (RDF), Document Object Model (DOM), and Etensible Style Language (XSL), with XML it is possible to move closer toward seamless integration of information resources and services. After a brief discussion of the relationship between these standards, two short examples demonstrate how new models of integration using XML might arise and take hold in the technologies upon which our community depends.
