ABSTRACT

This enquiry from the Republic of Ireland explores with sensitivity the experiences of children and young people who have lived with domestic violence. A total of 22 children and young people between the ages of 7 and 18 participated in this enquiry by sharing their experiences in discussion groups. In the groups, they describe the impact of domestic violence as having a sense of lost childhood. They discuss what they feel schools should know and could do which might help to alleviate their feelings of difference, fear, anxiety and isolation.
