ABSTRACT
As a firm of architects and urban planners, Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands (LDS) has been closely involved in the renewal of London’s South Bank. This area, in the metropolitan boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark, is now the main cultural hub of the capital and has a growing and dynamic resident community. However, when we started to work there twenty years ago, it was run down and lifeless–a twilight area in the heart of London.
