ABSTRACT

This chapter explains a small-scale approach to sustainability. It opens with a discussion of the approach of French architect Anne Lacaton, followed by a description of the ongoing exhibition, the ‘Parasite project’, which has dealt with city densification, temporality and small-scale architecture. Environmentally sound structural systems and their architectural implications are then dealt with. Finally, a small ‘cultural house’ in the Netherlands summarizes our practice’s ideas about material and cultural sustainability.
