ABSTRACT
Until the end of the 1950s Denmark was mainly an agricultural country. It is therefore a rather young industrial nation, and most firms are small firms. Most industries are light industries which require only limited capital. The main financial sources are banks and other financial institutions together with trade and similar creditors. The Copenhagen Stock Exchange, which is the only stock exchange in Denmark, has so far played a minor role as a marketplace for capital.
