ABSTRACT
The idea of a social accounting has captivated the imagination of a large number of people in a comparatively short period of time. Experiments are apace; articles are being printed in both professional and research journals; even books on the subject are starting to pour from the presses in many Western countries, and in Japan; and conferences are being held - of which this is the first in the United Kingdom.
