An analysis of the development of the Irish technology transfer system

This chapter outlines how the Irish government has set about transforming the nation’s university R&D system to accelerate university–industry partnerships and encourage academic entrepreneurship. More specifically, the paper addresses the development of the Irish technology transfer system, the challenges that arose, the strategy objectives, the role of the state, and the core elements of the start-up ecosystem.
